| MILANO, 24 SEPTEMBER 2008 A general meeting of the Gruner+Jahr/Mondadori journalists held this morning, called for a strike at all publications for the afternoon, 24th sept, and tomorrow, 25th Sept, to demand the re-instatement of our colleague, unjustly dismissed yesterday, and the opening of round-table talks for Geo and Top girl magazines at editorial level to agree contractual terms and conditions under the law. To this end the journalists have also carried out a sit-in in front of the publishing house. FIRST INTERVIEW "Listen, last year a company that finished the year with a profit of 7-8 million Euros has this year started to cut back the workforce. This is what has happened. The management announced this year the reorganization of two magazines, Geo and Top Girl without anything other than brief discussions with the Unions and then having made certain promises they then did the opposte sacking a colleague with no regard for the law which is something we are absolutely unable to accept. We wont allow them to have open season on our colleagues". SECOND INTERVIEW "We demand the re-instatement of our colleague immediately who has been dismissed contrary to the law and all standing agreements with the Unions, and we also want real discussions to begin on the future of these two publications which are heading towards a crisis. These cutbacks arent helping anyone". PLEASE NOTE Focus is the leading monthly in Europe and is understaffed at the moment like many other magazines published by G+J/M. There are other understaffed publications that can absorb our colleagues within the group, so there is no need to dismiss anyone. Italian Gruner und Jahr/Mondadori journalists say NO TO UNLAWFUL DISMISSALS. Milano, 24 settembre 2008 L'assemblea dei giornalisti Gruner und Jahr/Mondadori, riunitasi stamattina in forma generale, ha proclamato lo sciopero di tutte le testate per il pomeriggio di oggi 24 settembre e la giornata di domani 25 per il reintegro di un collega ingiustamente licenziato ieri a Geo e l'apertura di un tavolo di trattativa sul piano editoriale per le riviste Geo e Top Girl secondo le corrette regole contrattuali e di legge. Per questo i giornalisti hanno indetto anche un sit-in di protesta davanti alla sede della casa editrice. |
